Methi Alan in Marathi
Time: 15 to 20 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
1 cup fresh methi leaves, chopped
2 tbsp Besan (chickpea flour)
For tempering: 1 tsp Oil, pinch of mustard seeds, pinch of hing
Another Tempering (optional) : 1 tsp oil, 2 pinches asafoetida, 2 dry red chilies
2 Garlic cloves, roughly chopped
3/4 cup plain Yogurt
1 green chili
Salt to taste
Method:
1) Mix yogurt and besan into a bowl. Make a lump-free mixture. Add 1/2 a cup of water and mix well.
2) Heat oil into a kadai. Add garlic cloves and cook till the edges of garlic become brown. Add mustard seeds, hing, green chilies, chopped methi leaves and 1/2 tsp salt. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
3) Turn heat to low. Add yogurt + chickpeas mixture and whisk well. Sometimes, lumps may form if you stop whisking. Once the mixture is well blended, stop whisking.
4) Check the taste and adjust the seasoning. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
Serve it in a plate alongwith hot while rice. You may want to drizzle some tempering for additional flavor.
