Tomato Garlic Chutney in Marathi
Time: 15 minutes
For 2-3 persons
Ingredients:
2 medium tomatoes
10-15 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
1/2 to 1 tsp vinegar
2 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp hing
1 sprig curry leaves
4-4 red chilies OR 1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
Method:
1) Heat oil into a pan. Add garlic and saute till light pink. Add mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves and red chilies. Add chopped tomatoes and salt and cook till raw smell and flavour disappears.
2) Once tomatoes and completely mushy, turn off the heat. Let the mixture cool down. Add vinegar and black pepper and grind to a fine paste.
This chutney goes well with various dishes like coconut rice, dosa etc. Skip the mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves and it goes well with momos too.
Tip:
1) For more flavor and color, use kashmiri red chilies (use more chilies). Soak them in warm water. Then remove the water. Grind to fine paste.
