Coconut Modak In Marathi
Time: 15 to 20 minutes
Makes: 10 to 12 small modaks
Ingredients:
1/2 cup scraped coconut
1/4 cup condensed milk
2 tbsp Khava
2 pinches cardamom powder
Method:
1) Take a medium microwave-safe bowl. First add khava. Microwave for 50 seconds on high power. Take the bowl out and stir for few seconds.
2) Add coconut and mix. Microwave for 45 seconds, 3 times. Each time, remove the bowl and give a quick stir to assure even cooking.
3) Add condensed milk and cardamom powder and mix. Microwave for 30 seconds, twice. Each time, remove the bowl and give a quick stir to assure mixture is cooked evenly.
4) Remove the bowl from microwave and stir for a minute. If the mixture is thick enough to make Modak, stuff it into modak mould.
5) If mixture sticks to the moulds, microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
Tips:
1) Microwave creates hotspots and it could burn the mixture. Hence after each time we microwave, stirring is important.
2) To make modak in large quantity, increase the ingredients proportionately. However you will need to increase the cooking time of microwave.
3) Coconut modaks are little moist at first. However, they become dry next day.
