  4. It was too sweet..I think half cup of sugar is stiil good than 1 cup of sugar

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hi,
thanks for stopping by my blog..half cup sugar would be very less and Shira will taste very bland. Of course, the quantity of sugar is a personal preference. However, 1 cup sugar for 1 cup rava is a perfect measurement. People who like sweet, use extra sugar to make it more sweet.

  6. Excellent recipe! Have the same comment about the amount of sugar - too sweet (and I only tried it with 3/4 cup). But like you said, it might be a personal preference. Regardless, you can't go wrong with this recipe! Adding raisins would add to the taste, I think.

  10. hi Vaideshi,

I am a male who has not cooked ever, last year i tried. Shira, Ravyache Ladu, Chivda, shankarpale and few more things. And believe me it all came out well. Many thanks for these receipies.

I also face one practical problem. Some of the times i can not make out things well e. g. you said Rava Gulabi hoiparyanta bhajava. But having not cooked ever, i find it difficult to judge some times, hence i request you to mention approx time. That will help male cooks who dont have cooking background.

Many thanks to you once again for taking time to help us with receipies.

  17. Read some comments about people wanting low-calorie options.
A tip that my mom uses - instead of using sugar add mashed bananas to the sheera after adding milk. This will add sweetness to the sheera without adding artificial calories. The only flip side to this is, the sheera becomes blackish if kept for long and must be consumed at the earliest :)

    Love your blog vaidehi!

  20. Hi vaidehi... I put here comeent 2 times bt it did'nt appear in your blog. I just want to ask u I try this sheera as per ur measurement bt it didn't come soft as u shown in the photo why so? I used fine semolina for this. Can u plz tell me the reason?? I am waiting for ur reply....

  21. Hi Ragini

If semolina is coarse and well roasted, then it will absorb all the water/milk and you might need to add some more to cook the semolina nicely. Next time keep some more hot milk ready. If you find that sheera is little dry, then add some more milk, cover and cook for few minutes.
