Nachani Vadi in Marathi
Time: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 25 medium vadis
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Raagi flour (Nachani flour)
1 cup wheat flour (you may use soybean flour)
1/2 cup ghee
1/4 cup thick poha
1/4 cup Dink (edible gum)
1/4 cup dry dates powder
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
3/4 cup jaggery (finely chopped)
Method:
1) Melt ghee into a kadai. Deep fry poha and dink separately. When they puff up, remove into a plate. Crush them a little. Grease a tray.
2) Add Nachani flour and wheat flour into ghee. Roast well over low heat till you sense the fragrance of roasted flours.
3) Add 2 tbsp of water in jaggery. Heat it on medium flame. Keep stirring. Once jaggery melts completely, let it boil for few seconds and turn off the heat. Mix roasted flours, cardamom powder, dry dates powder, fried poha and fried dink. Stir with a spoon. Pour this mixture into greased tray and spread evenly.
Cut into square shapes.
