Tomato Kadhi in Marathi
Time: 15-20 minutes
Serves: 4 persons
Ingredients:
5 medium tomatoes
1/2 cup Buttermilk
2 tbsp besan Atta (Chickpea flour)
1/2 tsp cumin powder
For tempering:
1 tsp ghee
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp hing
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp red chili powder
3-4 curry leaves
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander
Salt and sugar to taste
Method:
1) Boil, peel and puree the tomatoes. Strain the puree through a fine mesh.
2) Mix besan atta with tomato puree. Remove lumps, if any. Add salt and sugar to taste. Also, add red chili powder, and cumin powder.
3) Heat ghee into a sauce pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, turmeric, and curry leaves. Add tomato puree. Let it simmer on low heat. Adjust the consistency by adding buttermilk. Simmer for sometime.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
