Gatta Curry in Marathi

Time: 40 minutes
Makes: 3 servings

::::For Gatta::::
3/4 cup Besan
2 tbsp Rice flour
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Yogurt (2 to 3 tbsp)
2 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
::::For curry::::
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander seeds, crushed
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp ginger, crushed
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 cup onion puree
1 cup tomato puree
1/2 cup yogurt
Salt to taste

1) Mix all the ingredients given under label 'Gatta'. Knead and make a stiff dough. Divide in 4 equal portions. Roll and shape like a cylinder.
2) Boil water into a big pot. Once water starts boiling, add gatta rolls. Boil for few minutes. Gatta rolls will float when they are cooked. Remove from the water and wait till they cool down a bit. Cut them into 1 inch pieces.
3) Now prepare curry. Heat oil into a pan. Add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, hing, turmeric powder, chili powder, garlic and ginger. Stir over medium heat. Add onion puree and salt. Keep stirring until onion become brown.
4) Add tomato puree and simmer for few minutes. Cook till raw smell of tomato dissappears.
5) Turn heat to low. Add yogurt and whisk vigorously. Once yogurt is well blended, add little water to adjust the consistency. Add little salt, garam masala and gattas. Simmer for few minutes.
Serve hot with rice and chapati.
